Dear SHPE Familia,
The SHPE Board of Directors has decided to extend the national elections nomination deadline this year to ensure a robust and well-qualified group of nominees; and to give me a chance to extend to you a personal invitation to join the SHPE leadership in an official capacity.
Not only does being an elected SHPE official cultivate leadership skills, raise your profile, and present you with invaluable networking opportunities, it also gives you an opportunity to make a direct impact on the future of SHPE. We are dedicated to making SHPE the most valued organization serving Hispanics in STEM and you can be a part of that movement. We need your ideas, your passion, and your dedication to help us achieve that mission.
The SHPE Familia is made up of over 250 chapters and over 10,000 members and this is your opportunity to represent them, to give them a voice, and to enact change, while also securing invaluable leadership experience that will enhance your career.

Nomination Details
Your nomination package is due 11:59 PDT on Sunday, April 8, 2018 and it must include: biography, professional photo, nomination petition, and transcripts for undergraduate and graduate positions. You must also have at least 5 signatures from peer members for your nomination to be valid.
Open Positions Starting July 1:
Professionals, 2-Year Term
- (1) National Board Member
- (1) Regional Vice President each for Regions 2, 4 and 6
Students, 1-Year Term
- (2) National Undergraduate Representatives
- (1) National Graduate Representative
- (7) Regional Student Representatives
- (7) Regional Graduate Representative
Estimated Time Commitment Includes:
- 5-10 hours per week (but may vary)
- Attendance at monthly and quarterly teleconferences/meetings
- Attendance at RLDC and the National Convention
Please note that viable candidates and members wanting to nominate and/or vote must be members in good standing as of February 15. Student chapters wanting to vote need at least 10 members in good standing as of February 15. This deadline has not changed.
