The Boston Debate League (BDL) mission is to integrate argumentation and competitive debate into Boston Public Schools to develop critical thinkers ready for college, career, and engagement with the world around them. They work with a large and growing community of volunteers to host 12 tournaments per year. Are you interested in being part of our team? Here’s what you can do:
Volunteer as a judge: it involves listening to debaters, taking notes, offering encouragement and feedback, and determining a winner in each round. Debates are in English and Spanish, and we’re always looking for Spanish-speaking judges!
No experience is necessary: we provide training and walk you through your first judging experience. Meals and networking opportunities are also provided. Time commitment: 4-9 hours.
