Boston, Massachusetts – October 1st, 2017 – The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers MIT student chapter and Boston professional chapter held the second-annual SHPE Boston Subregion Summit on September 17, 2017 at MIT’s Tang Center.

Networking and Collaboration

The goal of the 2017 Boston Subregion Summit was for different chapters across the Boston Sub-Region to get to know each other, exchange best practices on running their organizations, get information on their regional contacts and receive training from their local professional chapter – SHPE Boston.

SHPE student leaders came together from all parts of New England

It was an incredible day of workshops and collaboration for SHPE student members. More than 50 SHPE student chapter leaders gathered from 8 universities across New England. Often exchanging ideas online, it was great to see student leaders from different schools getting to know each other in person and exchanging advice on how to run their organizations in a better way.

Learning how to improve SHPE student chapters together!

The SHPE Boston Subregion Summit featured talks and workshops from MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Akamai Technologies, and P&G. Our esteemed presenters touched upon topics such as professional career management, successful leadership, running an organization efficiently and performing at a high level. The event also included a breakout activity in which students discussed and found solutions to over 7 different topics of interest surrounding student chapter management. Topics included national conference prep, community outreach, marketing, recruiting, and fundraising.
