NOMINEES FOR PRESIDENT:
Axel Vigo has been part of the SHPE Boston Board serving as the IT Director since 2012. He has provided his technical expertise to the Boston Chapter throughout his time in the professional chapter and has also helped organize the Region 4 Leadership Development Conference in 2013, 2014 and 2015 by leading IT and Marketing efforts.
Axel was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and studied Computer Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree, he moved to the Boston area and has been working for multinational companies as well as small startups as a software engineer and product manager. He’s currently working as an independent Software/IT consultant.
NOMINEES FOR SECRETARY:
For the past 4 years Juana Paniagua has been part of the SHPE Boston Board of Directors working in communications and membership. Juana is fully committed to the mission and vision of SHPE Boston of helping the Hispanic community of New England excel in STEM related fields and is eager to continue to work with the SHPE Boston team to develop activities and programs that will benefit our community.
Juana was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States after completing high school. She attended the UMass Lowell where she got a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and later attended Manhattan College and obtained her Masters. Juana has previously volunteered for non-profit organizations in The Bronx, NY, providing basic computer and ESL classes to adults. Throughout her career, Juana has worked for several pharmaceutical/biotech companies in research, manufacturing and quality. Currently, she is the Sr. Quality Assurance Manager at Fortress Biotech in Burlington, MA.
