In June, to finish off the SHPE fiscal year, we had our Annual Summer Mixer in Lawrence, MA.

During the summer months we supported the SHPE Jr Chapter at Greater Lawrence Technical School and our sponsors through fundraising events as part of the 2014 Summer Sports Series:

  1. SHPE Jr. Chapter – Noche de Ciencias Softball Fundraiser
  2. Raytheon Hispanic Organization for Leadership Advancement (HOLA) Annual Golf Tournament
  3. GE Hispanic Forum Soccer Tournament for STEM Scholarships

SHPE Boston member Erick Aponte was the subject of a PR News Wire article “From Student to Mentor”. While in high school in Lawrence, MA, Erick Aponte was in a program where Raytheon mentors introduced students to careers in math and science. Aponte is now an engineer working at Raytheon and with plans to come full circle by becoming a “Stand and Deliver” mentor himself. Congratulations Erick, you are a role model for our young community!
