BOSTON, MA – April 21, 2011 – On Thursday, April 21, 2011, the Boston Chapter for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE Boston) hosted a General Meeting of the Professional Chapter and regional University Chapters at the offices of Google, Inc. in Cambridge, MA.

The purpose of the General Meeting was to inform SHPE professional and university members of the organization’s plans to build the chapter and increase the value of membership for the remainder of 2011. The meeting also provided an opportunity for the Board of the Professional Chapter to:

  • Articulate the strength of the SHPE National and SHPE Boston organizations,
  • Share the event and activity agenda for the remainder of 2011,
  • Introduce new board members and the new board organizational structure, and
  • Announce the launch of a membership social networking portal on May 2, 2011.

“This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to make the case for people who have attended SHPE events to become members. It also gave us an opportunity to explain our goals for growing the chapter in the upcoming year,” said Darryl Sterling, Vice President of Strategy and Operations.

Jeizel Hernandez, Interim President and Treasurer, said “The General Body meeting was an excellent chance for members and non-members to see the unique and wonderful opportunities offered by SHPE and its professional chapter in the Greater Boston area. As we continue to grow, I hope to see more members participate in helping us achieve our long term goals!”
